Descendants of the Sun Episode 1

Descendants of the Sun Episode 1: Some relationships are fated to despite the challenges of time and place. Yoo Si Jin (Song Joong Ki), the leader of a Special Forces unit, meets trauma surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) in a hospital emergency room after Si Jin and his second-in-command, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), chase down a thief on their day off. Si Jin is immediately smitten with Mo Yeon, and he asks her out on a date. But Si Jin keeps getting called to duty when he is with Mo Yeon, and the two also realize that they have conflicting views about human life (he will kill to protect his country and she has to save lives at all costs). They decide to break off their budding relationship as a result. Dae Young also tries to break off his relationship with Army doctor Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won) because her father, Lt. General Yoon (Kang Shin Il), thinks Si Jin is a better match for his daughter. Si Jin and Dae Young are then deployed to the fictional war-torn country of Urk on a long-term assignment of helping the United Nations keep peace in the area. After repeatedly being passed over for a promotion because of her lack of connections, Mo Yeon gives up performing surgeries, loosening her principles somewhat to become a celebrity TV doctor and caring for VIP patients at the hospital. But when she refuses the sexual advances of the hospital chairman, Mo Yeon is picked to lead a medical team to staff a clinic in Urk! There, Mo Yeon unexpectedly reconnects with Si Jin. “Descendants of the Sun” is a 2016 South Korean drama series directed by Lee Eung Bok. The entire series was pre-produced prior to airing, which is a departure from how Korean dramas are typically produced. The stars and production team spent one month in Greece to film much of the series’ storyline. The drama also is the first project for Song Joong Ki after finishing his mandatory two-year military service.

Truth is at time an illusion

One of the problems with being a cancer patient at this time of year is how to answer the simple question of how are you doing when asked by friends and family. The fact that my energy level is not up to the "demands" of the season. There will be no cookie baking this year! There will be little in the way of holiday decorating and most shopping will be done online. Depression which hits many at this time of year is added to the other miseries of this battle but when asked, I put a smile on my face and say, "Doing good, how about you? Merry Christmas!"

Update

Jackio Cancer Treatment Funding

Home from another hospital stay...this time it was short! A case of extreme high blood pressure that required monitoring and since I was there we did the monthly screenings as well. Now I am catching up on the rest that I lost while I await the test results. Fingers are crossed that I can maintain my treatment free status!

Medical Funding

I was reluctant to do this but as my medical cost after insurance has been climbing and friends telling me that others are doing this for things like moving expenses, etc, I thought I would hold out my cup.

Denied marriage license in Morehead, KY - Rowan County

Back in the 60's, school official who refused to follow the court's order of desegregation were arrested and many lost their jobs So why is nothing being done here, at the least refusing to to your job should be grounds for termination. This is not a private sector job!

Destiny - Animation Short

Paperman

A Not So Good Day

I was first diagnosed with cancer in December 2011 with surgery (my delay due to many factors) in March of  2012. This was followed by courses of both radiation and chemo treatments. Tons of lab work, scans, etc and followed by more surgeries. I should be thankful that I remain in relatively "good" health and that I am able to live on my own despite some limitations. However upon learning today that I face the possibility of yet another surgery hit hard and for just a moment I wanted to say the hell with it and then I got a message from an online friend, one of those random "I'm thinking of you" postings and the realization of just how many people have been following me throughout this medical journey and supporting me along the way hit. So I am going to get back into fighting mode!

Best Kiss #1

K-drama kisses are known for being less than what viewers wants to see in a kiss. More often than not it is the tentative lip touch that is suppose to make our couple weak at the knees! There are, however, many actors, who along with their costars, know how to deliver that screen kiss that can make the viewer weak kneed. Here are just a few of the ones that I have found:

Crisis of Faith

It has become more and more difficult to keep the happy face showing. I have even found that my faith has been tested many times, not only because of my health but watching the trials of so many of the others receiving treatment along with me.

The Battle Goes On

It seems like forever since I last posted something other than a link to another site, mostly music that I have been enjoying during what have been difficult months.  Three surgeries plus a hospital stay for what my medical team called a hypertensive crisis  and now back under going a new round of chemo. To add to the stress, while on medical leave, my position at work was eliminated by restructuring and I was told that any new position would be discussed upon my return. I am not going to hold my breath in anticipation of there being a position that will work for me so between treatments, I have been doing some communication with my network to see if anyone is aware of opportunities that could match my skills and what I am looking for in an employer. I will admit that this has added to my stress level and might have even played a factor in the "crisis".

Check Out Finding Mr Destiny

This is from 2010 but remains a favorite of mine as the performance of Gong Yoo is wonderful. I was first introduced to his works in The Coffee Prince and this character is quite the opposite when it comes to confidence. This hero is a naive guy with an obsessive compulsive fixation on order, safety and hygiene and meets with our heroine, a disheveled and foulmouthed "old maid" looking for her first love. Check it out!
